Milia are white coloured bumps which appear usually under and above the eyes. These bumps are harmless but look very ugly on the face. It may also appear on the cheeks, nose and forehead. These are also known as milk spots and these cysts can be removed with the below home remedies.

1. Honey

Honey is a rich antioxidant and can remove milia effectively. Take some honey and apply it on the affected area. Keep it for 15-20 minutes and then wash it off with warm water. Mix honey with coconut oil and apply it on the affected areas. Repeat this process regularly to get rid of milia [1].

2. Facial Steam

Facial steam is very beneficial for milia. Boil water in a container and soak a towel in it. Squeeze the excess water and place the hot towel on the affected areas. This method will unclog the pores and remove the white bumps from the face and eyes. Repeat this process at least 2 times in a week for best results. you can also opt for facial sauna by taking steam directly on the face for 10-15 minutes which will clear the pores and remove milia effectively.

3. Pomegranate Peels

Pomegranate peel powder is a popular home remedy to remove milia. Take the pomegranate peels and roast it in a container till it is completely dried. Now in a jar grind the dried peels to form powder. Add few drops of lemon juice or rose water to the powder and apply it on the affected area. Scrub the area gently for 10-15 minutes and wash it off with normal water .

4. Sugar And Lemon

Take 1 teaspoon of sugar and add squeeze half lemon juice to the sugar. Now scrub the affected area gently for 10-15 minutes and let it stay on the face for another 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Repeat this process at least 2 times in a week. Gradually the milia will disappear.

5. Sandalwood Powder And Rose Water

Sandalwood powder cleans the face and removes dead cells from it. It is an excellent home remedy to remove milia effectively. Take 1 teaspoon of sandalwood powder and add few drops of rose water to it to form a smooth paste. Apply it on the affected area and wait till it dries completely. Now rinse off with cold water and pat the area dry. Repeat this process 2-3 times in a week for effectiveness.

6. Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is well known for its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties. Extract fresh Aloe Vera gel from the leaf and apply it on the affected areas. Keep it overnight and next day morning; wash it off with cold water. Regularly repeat this process to get rid of milia. You can also add few drops of honey and a pinch of turmeric it to form a smooth face and apply it regularly for effectiveness [2].

7. Fenugreek Leaves

Fenugreek leaves has both anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. Take some fenugreek leaves in a blender and add little water to it. Now grind the mix to make a thick paste. Apply the paste on the affected areas and let it dry completely. Now rinse off with cold water. Repeat this process regularly till the white bumps completely fade away .

8. Baking Soda And Castor Oil

This is a very effective home remedy for milia. Take 2 teaspoon of baking soda and add 1 teaspoon of castor oil to it. Apply it on the affected area and let it dry completely. Rinse off with cold water. You can also apply the castor oil directly on the affected areas or you can mix equal quantity of castor oil and olive oil and apply it on the affected areas. Leave it overnight and rinse off the next morning.

9. Potato

Grate one potato and store it in the refrigerator. Apply the grated potato on the affected areas and keep it for 15-20 minutes. You can also blend one potato and extract the juice from it. Soak a cotton ball in it and then apply the juice on the affected areas. Keep it for 1-2 hours and wash it off with cold water. Repeat the process regularly till the bumps vanish .

10. Vinegar And Corn Starch

Corn starch and vinegar combination can effectively help in removing the milia. Corn starch absorbs the excess oil present in your skin and vinegar acts like an astringent. Take 1 spoon of corn starch and add 2 teaspoon of vinegar to it to make a smooth paste. Apply this paste on the affected areas and keep it for at least 20-30 minutes. Rinse off with warm water and pat dry [3].
